  • 15 Dec 1944 - Slated to fly from Belem, Brazil to Natal, Brazil. Crashed shortly after takeoff. Remains never recovered.

According to the American Battle Monuments Commission, 1st Lt. Dingwell was issued the following citations.

  • Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters

It should be noted that I cannot verify these awards through other records. The Distinguished Flying Cross Society does not list him on their rolls, nor does the Military Times Hall of Valor. A complete service record will be required.
